Drivers ProfileJake CamilleriIf anyone is born to race then it is Jake Camilleri. With father Joe Camilleri a former Mini peddler himself, it’s easy to see that the racer instinct has been passed on. But Jake has steered his own path to racing success. With his father’s advice and support Jake took to the world of Motorsport at the age of 15, when he started in a go-kart with family crewing weekend outings.
With his natural ability, which he tuned into quality race craft and his impressive physical fitness, Jake advanced from Karting to HQ Holden with him he took the number 36 formally the race number of his father, the combination proving a success, winning the Qld state champion and 3rd in the National Championship in 2000. Then Saloon cars in 2002 he continued to reached the winners podium, claiming 2nd in the Australian Saloon Car Championship.
The step into production cars and the Australian Manufactures Championship was no different, winning back to back class champion in 2008/09. Two Bathurst 12 Hour podiums and numerous class pole positions, are just some of the achievements Jake can rank alongside his reputation as well as being voted the best and fairest driver in 2009.
